Greater than 62,000 idols have been immersed in numerous water our bodies in Mumbai on the second day of the Ganesh pageant, civic officers stated on Monday.
The pageant started on Saturday with households and ‘savajanik mandals’ (public teams) putting in the idols of their beloved god at properties and group pandals within the metropolis.
The idols have been taken out for immersion from Sunday afternoon after one-and-a-half days.
Until midnight, 62,569 idols have been immersed within the sea, different water our bodies and synthetic ponds, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Company (BMC) officers stated. “No untoward incident was reported wherever through the immersion,” the BMC stated.
On Sunday, 62,197 family idols and 348 sarvajanik (public) idols of Lord Ganesh have been immersed, a civic official stated.
At the least 29,923 family idols and 234 public mandal idols have been immersed in synthetic ponds, set as much as keep away from air pollution in pure water our bodies.
Throughout the 10-day Ganpati pageant, devotees bid adieu to the deity after one-and-a-half days, 5 days, seven days and the final day (Anant Chaturdashi).
