Entrepreneur Ashneer Grover’s brother-in-law and the previous head of procurement at BharatPe has been arrested by Financial Offences Wing (EOW) for his alleged involvement in facilitating misappropriation of firm funds, the Delhi police stated.
Arrested Thursday, accused Deepak Gupta was produced earlier than a court docket Friday and despatched to police custody for 5 days.
He was named in a Might 2023 FIR registered in opposition to Grover, his spouse Madhuri Jain and different members of the family for misappropriation of BharatPe funds. “Deepak Gupta was the procurement head at BharatPe when the alleged misappropriation of funds occurred. That is the second arrest within the case. In August, the EOW had arrested Amit Kumar Bansal for being part of non-existing vendor and HR consultancy corporations that acquired Rs 72 crore from BharatPe.
“His (Gupta’s) involvement was corroborated throughout the interrogation of Amit Bansal who’s now in judicial custody,” DCP (EOW) Raja Banthia stated.
