A day after a Nationwide Investigation Company (NIA) workforce was attacked by a mob in West Bengal’s Bhupatinagar, the central company denied allegations of ‘mala fide’ and stated the assault was “utterly unprovoked”.
In a press release issued Sunday, the company stated, “NIA made it clear that its actions have been bona fide, lawful and legally mandated, as a part of its ongoing investigation into the heinous crime associated to the fabrication of crude bombs… NIA has reiterated that its workforce had come beneath violent assault by an unruly mob once they had gone to conduct searches in Naruabila village on Saturday in reference to its probe in stated case.”

On Saturday, hours after the NIA workforce was attacked, the East Midnapore police booked them beneath charges of molestation.
At an election rally in Balurghat, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee reacted to the assault and stated, “It was the NIA that attacked and never the ladies… At midnight, NIA officers are barging into the houses of individuals. What do you anticipate? Gained’t girls combat for his or her dignity? In 2022, there was a chocolate-bomb blast at Bhupatinagar and now the NIA has been despatched… to create terror. The BJP needs to arrest all our sales space presidents… They’ve arrested Arvind Kejriwal, Adivasi chief Hemant Soren to win the election. They’ve the CBI and NIA to create terror they usually have the ED and Earnings Tax which extort cash and provides it to the BJP.”
The NIA workforce was attacked at Bhupatinagar in East Medinipur on Saturday after they picked up two TMC staff in reference to the blast on December 3, 2022, killing three individuals. Two NIA officers obtained minor accidents as their automobile was allegedly attacked after Balai Maiti and Manobrata Jana, the 2 key conspirators, have been picked up for questioning.
