The Enforcement Directorate on Tuesday summoned West Bengal minister Chandranath Sinha in reference to the academics’ recruitment rip-off.
Sinha, whose house in Birbhum district was raided on March 22, was requested to look earlier than the probe company on March 27.
Following the raids, the Enforcement Directorate officers seized a number of property-related paperwork, one cell phone and over Rs 40 lakh in cash.
The state minister couldn’t make clear why such an enormous amount of money was saved at his residence, information company PTI quoted an Enforcement Directorate official as saying.
“Now we have seized some property-related paperwork for the sake of our investigation. One cell phone and over Rs 40 lakh in money have been seized. Now we have additionally requested some inquiries to the minister,” he stated.
The central company raided Sinha’s residence when he was at his ancestral home in Murarai, round 90 km away from Bolpur.
