The Ministry of Defence inked a contract with Hindustan Aeronautics Restricted (HAL) on Friday for the Mid-Life Improve (MLU) of 25 Dornier Plane together with related gear for the Navy.
Beneath the mission, the HAL will incorporate state-of-the-art avionics programs and sensors onboard the plane.
The pact, a step in the direction of enhancing the operational functionality of naval forces, is anticipated to generate employment alternatives, amounting to 1.8 lakh man-days throughout its execution span of six and a half years, in a serious push to the Centre’s “Atmanirbharta” (self-reliance) in Defence.
The defence ministry stated the mission shall be carried out inside six and half years.
“The improve would considerably improve the operational functionality of the Dornier plane of the Indian Navy to carry out main roles of maritime surveillance, coastal surveillance, digital intelligence and growth of maritime area consciousness,” the defence ministry said.
“The MLU for Dornier plane consists of an improve to include state-of-the-art avionics programs and first position sensors,” the ministry stated.
“As well as, this improve may also allow Indian Navy Dorniers to hold out secondary roles of search and rescue, medical/casualty evacuation and communication hyperlink,” it additional stated.
