Round half a dozen outlets run by Muslims in Chamoli’s Nandanagar had been allegedly ransacked and vandalised on Sunday by a mob over allegations {that a} 25-year-old man from the group made an obscene gesture in direction of a minor woman within the space.
Safety was stepped up within the space following the violence, stated senior law enforcement officials, including that the state of affairs was underneath management.
In keeping with police, the minor’s father had lodged a criticism at Nandprayag police station on Saturday, accusing the person, Arif Khan, who works at a salon in Nandanagar, of molesting his minor daughter on August 22.
“We received a criticism… that the accused uncovered himself in entrance of his 14-year-old daughter… we lodged an FIR underneath related sections, together with POCSO. The accused is on the run; we are attempting to nab him,” Chamoli SP Sarvesh Panwar instructed The Indian Express.
“In the present day (Sunday), a mob gathered out there and took out a procession throughout which they eliminated issues from 5-6 outlets and vandalised them. All these outlets belonged to Muslims…,” stated Panwar.
